About Me
Welcome!
I'm Zheng Wei, a PhD student at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, working under the guidance of Professor Huamin Qu. I am part of the VisLab research group at HKUST, which is committed to advancing the frontiers of visual analytics by developing innovative technologies, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and providing data-driven solutions across various fields, while also training the next generation of experts in data visualization and analytics.Research Interests
- Data Visualization & Data Videos – Crafting visual narratives that transform complex data into compelling, story-driven video content.
- Virtual Reality (VR) & Immersive Analytics – Developing interactive and immersive environments that blend artistic expression with analytical exploration to enhance data understanding.
- Social Media Data Analysis – Utilizing computational approaches to analyze and visualize social media data, uncovering trends and behavioral patterns at both individual and collective levels.
Approach & Goals
My research is centered on understanding and improving human perception, decision-making, and interaction in visual content creation. Through a human-centered and interdisciplinary approach, I integrate art, design, and technology to study how individuals and groups engage with visual content, optimize creative workflows, and enhance their decision-making processes. By developing VR-driven analytical tools, computational models, and data-driven storytelling techniques, I aim to simulate and analyze human behavior in visual content creation, providing innovative methods to support creators, improve efficiency, and foster new forms of artistic and analytical expression.Ultimately, my goal is to push the boundaries of visual analytics and immersive experiences, making complex information more intuitive, engaging, and actionable, while empowering individuals and communities in the ever-evolving landscape of visual content creation.
